Adjacent Teeth

A dental bridge is a fixed dental restoration used to replace one or more missing teeth by bridging the gap between adjacent teeth.

Bridges consist of artificial teeth (pontics) that are anchored in place by dental crowns placed on the teeth adjacent to the gap.

Like crowns, bridges can be made from various materials such as porcelain, metal alloys, or a combination of both.

Dental bridges help restore chewing function, maintain facial shape, prevent remaining teeth from shifting out of position, and improve the aesthetics of the smile.

The process of getting a bridge involves preparing the abutment teeth (the adjacent teeth that will support the bridge) by removing a portion of their outer structure, taking impressions, and then placing a temporary bridge while the permanent one is being fabricated.

Both dental crowns and bridges are customized to fit each patient’s mouth and are designed to blend in seamlessly with natural teeth in terms of appearance and function. Proper oral hygiene and regular dental visits are essential for maintaining the longevity and health of dental crowns and bridges.
